Jan Ebeling

Jan EbelingA member of the 2012 Olympic Dressage Team, Jan Ebeling spent most of his childhood in Oldenburg, Germany, not far from where his Olympic partner Rafalca was born. He took riding lessons as a child, and worked feeding and grooming horses, and maneuvering the horse manure cart so he could pay for the lessons. Working his way up as an apprentice for the late German master Herbert Rehbein, Ebeling now oversees 30 to 40 horses at the Acres, a ranch in Moorpark, Calif.

 

A US Citizen since 1998, Jan represented the US on the 2003 gold medal Pan American team in Santo Domingo, aboard Feleciano, and aboard Rafalca competed in the World Cup in 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2012. In 2011, Jan and Rafalca were the highest ranked USA combination at the World Cup in Leipzig, Germany and members of the USA team in Aachen culminating their partnership with a spot on the 2012 Olympic team.

In addition to Jan's heavy competition and training schedule, Jan is a USDF Young Rider Clinician, is also a member of the High Performance Dressage Eligible Athlete Committee, and conducts clinics nationally and internationally, as well as having a full training and sales business in Moorpark, CA. As his family is an important part of his life, he enjoys spending time hiking, biking, snorkeling, and traveling with his wife, Amy and son, Ben.
